Hello my name is Ben Banaghan. I live and work in London as a construction manager for ISG, a global company. I am a proud Irish man from County Tipperary.
During 2020 I ran Ireland to promote Mental Health and to raise funds for a lady living with brain cancer. I take on these challenges with a view of supporting others but also in a bid to build my own mental health stamina and resilience. I am a strong advocate for talking about your mental health and I am currently an Ambassador for Mental Health UK.
From the 5th of September 2022 I will be Running Britain! This means I will be completing two marathons a day for 17/18 days! Whilst it is a massive physical undertaking it is also a monumental mental health challenge. As such I have decided to raise funds to support two causes close to my heart, as I believe they both support people with massive mental health resilience and strength.
The Join Our Boys Trust was established in 2014 following the diagnoses of three brothers with a catastrophic muscle wasting disease called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne currently has no treatment or cure and the average life expectancy in Ireland is 19 -22 years of age. Archie, George and Isaac all live in Roscommon. They are now all paralysed and use wheelchairs. They are three of the strongest people I have ever met.
Mental Health UK is a British Charity that brings together the heritage and expertise of four charities from across the country whose lives have been supporting people with their mental health for nearly 50 years. Through our collaboration they have been able to mark a significant footprint in the areas that deeply challenge our mental health and stability.
I am very, very keen to raise £500,000 that will e split equally between these two incredible causes.
Every Pound, Dollar & Euro is so appreciated.
ALL DONATIONS ARE BEING MATCHED BY MY EMPLOYER ISG for which I am immensely grateful.
